Leela's Lunches

at nurseries

At the centre of our nursery offering is the child. We started our service to encourage young children in the UAE to develop healthy food habits for life, so that they naturally gravitate towards real food despite the plethora of fast food out there.
How can this be accomplished?
First, by developing a menu that is specifically designed for young eaters that includes all the nutrients and textures their developing palates need. The first 1000 days of a child's life are the 'golden window' to impact healthy habits and expand their palates and our focus is to maximise nutrition in every bite.

Healthy philosophy

of our menu:

  • All foods are made fresh and from scratch.
  • Vegetables and fruit form the basis of every recipe, even where you cannot taste them.
  • No shortcuts, preservatives or additives.
  • We prioritise wholegrains to enhance the fibre content of meals.
  • We use no refined sugars.
  • All foods requiring organic, hormone- and antibiotic-free, or free-range certification are procured as such through vetted and trusted suppliers.
  • We only cook with good fats.
  • Our menu is carefully designed to be nutritionally balanced, reflect diverse cuisines, and include a mix of finger foods and heartier meals that help promote different motor skills.

key goal

A key goal of the program is to make new foods familiar through repeated exposure. Did you know a child needs a minimum of 17 repeated exposures to a new food to make it familiar?

Much more than

just catering

Our offering is not just about what the children eat but also how they eat. Our menu is only one part of the offering. How do we maximize this within the framework of the early years setting? This is where our key focus on child psychology comes in.

We have developed a comprehensive food program for our nursery clients. This means food is ingrained into the curriculum, and the children in the nursery learn about healthy food before, during, and after mealtime.

This program is developed in close partnership with all our stakeholders: the nursery administration, teachers and parents – with the child at the centre of it all.

Nursery Administration:

We partner with nurseries that show a clear intention to co-create a nutritional curriculum with us. Our nursery partners are motivated to go the extra mile, just as we are, to be part of the health food movement we are spearheading.

Teachers:

We work closely with the teachers of our client nurseries to train them on how best to approach mealtime in a way that encourages children to try new foods. Picky eaters benefit the most through our program!

Parents:

We provide regular workshops for parents of our client nurseries, so they understand the program, including tips on how to make the program work at home to make mealtime stress-free and enjoyable for the entire family.
